GRAND OPUS
Hailing from West Coast, California, hip hop duo Grand Opus emerges in classic emcee/ producer group fashion with a nostalgic and yet futuristic style of their own, aiming to carve their names among the greats with their debut album entitled “Forever”. The group is made up of Oakland, Ca. producer Centric, who has collaborated with hip hop artist’s such as Kool G Rap, Black Rob, Sean Price, Mistah FAB & Swizz Beatz to name a few, with television and film placements on networks and companies such as MTV, VH1, OWN, NFL, and others. Then we have Joc Scholar, the illuminating emcee out of Fresno, California who laces the beats with his distinct style, lyricism and delivery. The two prior music associates evolved into the group known as Grand Opus in 2013, with an oath to come together and make music from their own mind in an effort to simply help keep Hip Hop alive without any “Pop” pressure.

After three albums and stand alone singles the Cali emcee/ producer duo Grand Opus is back with their latest offering in the form of a throwback to when there was a "Side A" and a "Side B" to a cassette or vinyl single. On this two track release they give you the chill and soulful boom bap of "All G" that speaks to coming up as an artist and life's trials, and then the lyrical whirlwind of "Joc the Dawn", where producer Centric lays an energized, hard hitting, futuristic back drop for Joc Scholar to let loose on, proclaiming himself as the "Dawn" (light) as opposed to the overused "Don" that many rappers have proclaimed to be. One thing is for sure and it's that Grand Opus never misses a step in solidifying their own unique brand of hip hop.
